My Story with This Book: Recommended to me by my mom, purchased online.

Author: Ann Voskamp

Rating: 5/5 — Highly Recommend!

Genres: Devotional; Spiritual; Christian

Synopsis: The author explores past heartaches and difficulties to explain how she came to develop the habit of listing the things she is grateful for. Sounds simple, but the poetic and insightful way in which she explores gratitude and the will of God is beautifully moving.

Response: This book reads more like a personal journal or like the prose you’d read on a lazy summer afternoon, yet it speaks to both deep truths and practical application. This book definitely turned me on to Ann Voskamp. I just love her writing voice; it’s raw and honest and different than most devotionals you run across. I’ve since purchased and read other books written by her, and I’ve been touched and inspired with those as well. This book is especially poignant for those in the disability community, who have had more than their fair share of hardships. It’s easy to lose sight of what is good and what we can be grateful for when we are in the midst of struggle. This book reminds us why we can be grateful, and how to remind ourselves of all God’s gifts to us.

Content: Sparkly clean in terms of language, sex, violence, etc. Would suggest for junior high and up, due to the complexity of the topic.

Theology: In line with any Christian denomination.

Where to find it: On her website or on Amazon.
